A startup challenge by TE Connectivity

The future of transportation is electric. Electric mobility, the electrification of a vehicle’s powertrain, is transforming the way people and goods move from one place to another, and automakers are rewriting their strategies to meet market demand for electric vehicles. . TE Connectivity (TE) has been at the forefront of transforming electric mobility since its inception more than two decades ago, building on its position as the undisputed expert in the design of electrical interfaces for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. TE has released its Starter Challenge “Power Up with E-mobility” in this context. Learn more about the selection of finalists, launch events and the criteria to win.

Criteria for the Selection of the Six Finalists of “Power Up with E-mobility”

To be considered for TE’s “Power Up With E-Mobility” challenge, you must submit your application before November 4, 2022.

During the month of November, applications will be evaluated by a panel of experts consisting of TE subject matter experts from the E-Mobility team, as well as global representatives from business and technology functions.

Based on the following criteria, the six finalists will be selected:

  • uniqueness and creativity: the level of innovation in the proposed technology, product and/or service and whether it represents a significant technological advance;
  • Technological readiness level;
  • Value added, potentialY customer benefit (for example, usability, practical relevance), and
  • business model: the capacity of the participant to support the development of the proposed technology, product or service.

Exclusive launch event and collaboration session with TE engineers

Tuesday, December 6: The six finalists will be invited to an internal TE launch event that will take place as a virtual online meeting. Finalists will have the opportunity to highlight their technologies in a 10-minute speech followed by a 5-minute question and answer session with the audience. The audience will be comprised of senior TE representatives from a variety of functions, including product management, strategy, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and M&A, among others, as well as expert TE automotive engineers.

After the launch event, each finalist will be paired with three to four shortlisted TE engineers. The goal is to co-think of a good use case to apply your technology, such as a new or improved product, process, or service for TE. By interacting with TE engineers, you will be able to tailor your solution to TE’s business, for example by improving a product or addressing a problem.

Wednesday, December 7: Once TE engineers are assigned to you, you can start the brainstorming session right away. You decide with TE engineers when (based on location/availability/time zones, etc.) to meet to discuss use cases, refine your ideas, and prepare a pitch deck for your proposal of choice.

Final day sessions and selection of the winner of “Power Up with E-mobility”

Thursday, December 8: Your proposal will be presented in a second pitch event. The format and audience will be the same as for the first launch event. During this second submission event, the judging panel will judge the submissions in real time, and the final winner will be announced shortly after. The winning criteria will be the same as used for the first selection (see above) to choose a final winner for the cash prize of USD 30,000 with no principal or conditions.

TE offers benefits and opportunities for the six finalists

Although only one winner will be chosen for the cash prize, opportunities to participate with TE in subsequent PoCs or pilots are available to the six finalists. All finalists, with a special mention to the winning team, will be included in a TE press release to highlight the results of this open innovation challenge.

However, TE’s launch events and collaboration phase with engineering are also opportunities for you to win because they will give you exposure to senior representatives and experts, and your opportunity to promote your solution. The second launch gives you a second chance to make a compelling case for TE to potentially collaborate with you. After your discussions with TE engineers, you’ll also have a more engaging, personalized offer to get people interested in a proof of concept or pilot with you.

This is a unique opportunity, so don’t wait or hesitate. Click here to apply today!
